On the 26th, a 'targeted' shooting occurred in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States, resulting in two National Guard members being seriously injured and one suspect being arrested.

President Trump pointed out that the attack on the National Guard members constitutes a 'terrorist act.'

In a video statement, he said: 'This appalling attack is an act of evil, hatred, and terror.'

He stated that he has instructed the Department of Defense to send an additional 500 guardsmen to Washington, D.C.: 'We will bring the perpetrator of this brutal attack to justice.'

Trump said the Department of Homeland Security confirmed the arrested shooting suspect entered the US from Afghanistan in September 2021. The US must re-examine 'every foreigner' who entered from Afghanistan during Biden’s administration.

White House Press Secretary Leavitt stated that the White House is under lockdown, 'The White House is aware of and actively monitoring this tragic incident.'

Meanwhile, US Secretary of War Hegseth said that President Trump has ordered an additional 500 National Guardsmen to be deployed to Washington, D.C.

He said: 'This incident took place just a few steps away from the White House, and we absolutely cannot tolerate it.'

On the afternoon of the 26th, two West Virginia National Guard members deployed to Washington, D.C., were shot just a few blocks from the White House. At the time of the shooting, Trump was not at the White House, but was in Palm Beach, Florida with his family for Thanksgiving.

FBI Director Patel stated in a subsequent press conference that the two injured guardsmen are in serious condition and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Bowser stated that this was a 'targeted attack,' 'The suspect appeared to deliberately target the National Guard members.'

Police said at least one guardsman exchanged fire with the suspect, who is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. The suspect's motive is unclear and the investigation is ongoing.

In August this year, citing Washington, D.C. entering a 'crime emergency,' Trump ordered a takeover of the Capital Police Department and dispatched the National Guard to help restore law and public safety in the Capital. Since then, over 2,300 National Guard troops from eight states and the District of Columbia have been stationed in Washington, patrolling the streets under military command.
