Mediacorp actor Joshua Tan and his influencer wife Zeng Min have recently been embroiled in marriage turmoil rumors. On the night of May 1, Joshua Tan responded in English for the first time via a social media story, refuting the related rumors as 'completely unfounded, untrue, and taken out of context.' However, in the second paragraph, he wrote with deeper meaning: 'As life moves along, people grow in different ways and are taken in different directions,' seemingly implying a change in their relationship. He also stated that he would not make further comments on private matters and hoped the public would respect their privacy.
The incident originated when netizens noticed that the two had rarely interacted on social media recently; during the Star Awards, Zeng Min did not promote or rally votes for Joshua Tan as she had in previous years. Additionally, she frequently reposted content about breakups and mocking men, leading to speculation. Meanwhile, netizens also claimed to have seen Joshua Tan with a long-haired woman together in Shanghai and at the airport.
Lianhe Zaobao attempted to contact the couple at the end of April, but Mediacorp said it could not comment on artists’ private matters, and Zeng Min did not respond to inquiries.
Zeng Min Posts Two Stories, Prompting Speculation
Zeng Min posted two stories on social media on the same day before and after Joshua Tan’s statement. In her first story, written in English, she expressed hopes that the new month would bring the peace she’s always prayed for, concluding with: 'May I learn to let go of people and things that no longer feel right for me, and trust that better is coming my way.' With marriage rumors swirling, these words caused much speculation.
About three hours after Joshua Tan's post, Zeng Min followed with another story, this time only posting three 'raised eyebrow face' emojis, a gesture often indicating side-eye or skepticism, sparking much discussion among netizens.
On the night of the 1st, reporters reached out to both parties by text message and social media direct message to ask if they had divorced, but as of press time, neither had responded.
Joshua Tan and Zeng Min were in a relationship for five years; the former proposed to her in December 2019, and the two tied the knot in January 2022.
