(USA, 26th) US President Trump will witness the signing ceremony of the Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the 26th, together with Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar. Trump said that the reason he decided to visit Malaysia was because Anwar played a role in helping resolve the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict.
Trump departed on the evening of the 24th US Eastern Time, embarking on this trip to Asia. He is scheduled to visit Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea in succession. During his visit to South Korea, in addition to attending activities related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), he is also expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 30th.
Malaysia is Trump’s first stop; he is expected to arrive in Malaysia in the morning of October 26, and will meet with Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar on the same day.
According to Bloomberg, Trump mentioned the Thailand-Cambodia border conflict to journalists aboard Air Force One, saying that one of the reasons for visiting Malaysia was because Malaysia had actively participated in the whole process. He also praised Anwar as "a very good person."
Trump said: "I told the Malaysian leader… I think I owe you a visit."
