After the cabinet meeting on the 25th, Thai Prime Minister Anutin told the media that, due to the passing of Queen Mother Sirikit, he has canceled his planned visit to South Korea for the 32nd APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting (October 31 to November 1).
An announcement from the Thai Prime Minister's Office shows that the Prime Minister will serve as the chairman of the National Mourning Preparatory Committee.
Anutin said that as he needs to stay in the country to oversee the mourning arrangements, his scheduled official visit to Malaysia on the 25th has also been canceled. He will attend the signing ceremony for the Thailand-Cambodia Peace Joint Statement in Malaysia on the morning of the 26th and will immediately return to Thailand. Other ASEAN Summit meetings and the APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting will be attended on his behalf by Foreign Minister Sihasak.
The signing ceremony for the Thailand-Cambodia Peace Agreement is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of the 26th during the ASEAN Summit. U.S. President Trump will witness the signing of this agreement.
Earlier on the 25th, Anutin said, "I have canceled today's trip to Malaysia. However, considering the peace agreement reached between Thailand, Cambodia, the Malaysian Prime Minister, and the U.S. President, I have requested to reschedule the event to tomorrow morning (the 26th)."
