In conjunction with the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Informal Meeting held on Tuesday (January 7), Singapore Prime Minister Huang Xuncai will undertake an official visit to Malaysia from Monday to Tuesday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday (January 5) stating that Huang Xuncai will visit Malaysia accompanied by his wife Lü Zirui, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Yan Jinyong, and several ministers.

"Huang Xuncai will attend the official welcome ceremony at the Putrajaya Prime Minister's Office, followed by a delegation meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar during the leaders' informal meeting."

"A joint statement will be released after the informal meeting concludes."

During the official visit, both sides are expected to assess the Malaysia-Singapore bilateral relationship and discuss regional and international issues of common concern.

"The leaders of the two countries will also witness the exchange of the Johor-Singapore Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) agreement, and the signing of six Memorandums of Understanding and one Letter of Intent covering education, women and social welfare, climate change, carbon capture and storage, urban development, and combating transnational crime."

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Malaysia-Singapore diplomatic relations, and as close neighbors and founding ASEAN member states, Malaysia and Singapore maintain long-standing, extensive, and multifaceted cooperation in several fields.

The two countries remain each other's second largest trade partners, with bilateral trade reaching 360.12 billion Malaysian Ringgit from January to November last year, an increase of 6.7% compared to the same period the previous year.
