Fadhlina: Cultivating a Generational Reading Culture from Young Age Should Be Included in the National Development Agenda

Minister of Education Fadhlina pointed out that a reading culture is one of the national development agendas.

She said that reading is not merely an activity related to books, but must be regarded as a national development agenda, and should be passed down through generations, especially within the women’s community.

She hopes that citizens can cultivate a reading culture from a young age, and pass on this culture and habit from generation to generation, forming a reading ecosystem.

Fadhlina, at the “Women’s Reading” forum today, stated that today’s event was participated in by children, adults, and even the elderly, which demonstrates the importance of a cross-generational reading culture.

She also encouraged women to challenge themselves by choosing books outside of their comfort zones, and to ensure they maintain a steady reading pace.

On another note, Perbadanan Kota Buku (City Book Corporation) CEO Atifah pointed out that this Women’s Reading Club was established during the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair in June, and today marks their first reading event.

She said that the Women’s Reading Club will continue to promote the importance of women’s reading with different themes every month for the next twelve months.

She also welcomed individuals, organizations, or NGOs from across the country to contact them, so that women’s reading activities can be brought to every part of the nation.
