MARUDI: Sarawak’s younger generation has been encouraged to read The Hydrogen Revolution: A Blueprint for the Future of Clean Energy by Marco Alverà to better understand the potential of the hydrogen economy, which is expected to become one of the key drivers of the state’s future development.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said having knowledge of this emerging energy sector is crucial to enable young people to seize opportunities in the rapidly growing high-technology economy.
“I had met and told them that they must understand how to evaluate and utilise new energy sources based on hydrogen.
“I shared with them that they should read this book written by Marco Alverà, which explains how hydrogen has the potential to become a clean energy source and bring significant benefits to humanity through various science-based innovations,” he said during the launching ceremony of the Baram Regatta at Dataran Marudi here today.
Abang Johari said the book also explains that hydrogen can be produced through various methods, including water electrolysis, blue hydrogen production and other technologies that make the energy source cleaner and more sustainable.
“If we understand these processes, we will know how hydrogen can be produced and utilised as a clean energy source in the future,” he said.
Elaborating, he said Sarawak’s economic development is increasingly driven by knowledge and technology, including efforts to leverage natural gas resources to produce higher value-added products.
