According to reports from multiple Thai media outlets, eight explosions occurred one after another in the downtown area of Yala Province, southern Thailand, on the evening of the 8th. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. Local police and security forces quickly rushed to the scene to respond. After the incident, Fourth Army Region Commander Lieutenant General Narat immediately went to Kun Mae Park in Yala City to supervise and direct the on-site response.

Lieutenant General Narat listened to briefings from Yala Province Deputy Governor Khongsakong and relevant local agencies, and emphasized the need to strengthen regional security monitoring and strictly prevent further destructive actions.

According to Khongsakong’s report, the first seven explosions all occurred in the artificial waterfall area of Kun Mae Park, while the eighth explosion took place near the central small island of the pond in Elephant Park, Yala City.

As of now, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths. Preliminary investigations indicate that the explosives were suspected to be iron pipe bombs weighing about 1 kilogram and equipped with timer detonation devices. The method of manufacture is similar to the explosives used in the explosion at the Yala City Youth Center on the 7th.

Authorities believe that this series of explosions may be part of the ongoing unrest situation in the south. Security departments have ordered a comprehensive increase in the alert level, strengthening patrols and preventive measures in key areas. On October 9, the bomb disposal team conducted further inspection and identification of the explosive devices to determine the method and masterminds behind the attacks.

On the other hand, according to Thai media Khaosod, Prime Minister Anutin announced that he would fly to Hat Yai City, Songkhla Province on the 11th to convene the governors of seven southern provinces, the commander of the Fourth Army Region, the chief of Region 9 Police, and the secretary-general of the National Security Council to receive briefings on the violent incidents in the southern region.

Anutin will also especially hear reports from four counties in Songkhla Province and meet with local Islamic leaders.

Anutin stated that he has instructed Minister of Defense Natapol to strengthen security measures in the southern border provinces to cope with the increasing number of violent incidents.
