Located in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province, the Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano remains highly active after several consecutive days of eruptions.
The Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation pointed out that this volcano has erupted frequently since the 5th. Records show that there were 8 eruptions on the 8th and at least 6 eruptions on the 9th.
At present, the volcano's alert level remains at Indonesia's second-highest, and a 5-kilometer restricted zone has been established around the crater. Authorities advise residents living near rivers to remain vigilant and guard against potential risks of volcanic mudflows.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, with frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity. The country has more than 120 active volcanoes nationwide.
