Unable to Wait for Son’s Full Recovery: MIRROR Dancer Ah Mo’s Pastor Father Passes Away Suddenly

Published at Apr 26, 2026 10:26 am
In July 2022, a serious accident occurred at the Hong Kong popular boy group MIRROR's concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, where a large screen fell, seriously injuring dancer Li Qiyan (Ah Mo). To this day, he is still undergoing a long and arduous rehabilitation process. Unfortunately, on April 25, news broke that his father, Pastor Li Shenglin, had passed away, bringing great sorrow.

After his son’s accident, Li’s father continuously updated the public on his son's rehabilitation progress through prayer letters. Earlier this year, Li Qiyan started transitioning from a "manual wheelchair" to an "electric wheelchair"—from only being able to move "straight forward" and occasionally bumping into walls at first, to now skillfully controlling it with his left hand; his progress has been promising.

However, in March, Li's father delayed sending his prayer letter for the first time, revealing that he might have developed a chronic cardiovascular issue. Reports followed that due to poor health, he had symptoms of vomiting and fever, required treatment, and had tubes inserted into his arms, which was distressing to hear. Unexpectedly, on the 25th, Pastoral Ministry Theological Seminary announced the sad news of Pastor Li Shenglin's passing.

The Pastoral Ministry Theological Seminary announced in its statement: “Former Seminary President Pastor Li Shenglin has entered the Lord’s rest today, April 25. Throughout his life, Pastor Li earnestly loved the Lord; during his tenure, he devoted himself to promoting theological education and pastoral training, making many contributions. The goodness of his life will remain in the hearts of his colleagues and students. We sincerely ask brothers and sisters in Christ to remember Mrs. Li and the Li family in your prayers. May the Lord grant them comfort and peace. ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.’ (2 Timothy 4:7)”

In March, Li’s father wrote, “At the moment when my prayer letter is delayed for the first time,” sharing that he might be facing a chronic cardiovascular problem and is currently undergoing a detailed examination. It would take two months of follow-up observation and a cardiac CT scan to confirm the condition. Quoting scriptures, he wrote of his three deepest fears: uncertainty of whether his body could hold up, uncertainty of how much longer he could accompany his son, and uncertainty about how the days ahead would unfold—every word was filled with concern for his child.
