(Miri, 8th) Last night, the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) held the LED lighting ceremony for the 2025 Miri Gong Xi Bazaar in front of its building. The red lanterns hanging high on Kingsway and the main street exuded a strong Chinese New Year atmosphere.

The contractors had completed the site setup and hung red lanterns and holiday lights, adding a strong festive atmosphere. However, a sudden heavy rain in the evening affected the lantern installation wires, causing the lanterns in front of the Chamber to be unable to light up together during the LED lighting.

Attendees of the lighting ceremony included Ling Chiong Sing, Chairman of the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry,, Vincent Lu Yew Hee, Chairman of the Preparation Committee,  other directors, and Youth League members, among others.

The 2025 Miri Vibrant Bazaar, co-organized by the MCCCI and Miri City Council, held the lighting ceremony witnessed by the directors of the Chamber.

The Miri Vibrant Bazaar, spontaneously organized by the City Council and Miri CCC since 2000, welcomes its 25th anniversary this year. The 2025 Miri Vibrant Bazaar is set to officially open on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 8 AM on Kingsway and Main Street, and will last for 11 days, concluding at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 28.

To welcome the Year of the Snake, decorative trees on Kingsway and Main Street are adorned with cute cartoon dragon boards in the shape of a "snake" for the public to take photos with.

This year's bazaar features a new element of Hanfu fashion show, and will also host the 2025 Spring Run and Women's Qipao Contest.

This year's bazaar consists of 300 booths, 60% of which are operated by Chinese vendors. The stage tent will be erected on the 13th, and other tents will commence road closures on the 15th.

In addition to the vibrant bazaar, MCCCI will also hold a Chinese New Year gathering on the first day of the New Year, inviting not only member businesses but also dignitaries to celebrate this joyous festival together.
