On the 13th, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand and the Tourism Authority of Thailand jointly launched the 'Trusted Thailand' certification program with multiple organizations in Bangkok.
According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand received a cumulative total of 24.11 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of this year, a decrease of 7.5% compared to the same period last year. The reasons for this decline include the appreciation of the Thai baht, a downturn in the global economy, and intensified competition from the tourism industries of neighboring countries.
Attakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated that the 'Trusted Thailand' label is a direct reflection of the safety and reliability of tourism in Thailand and helps strengthen tourists’ confidence to return.
It was introduced that this project is a long-term initiative by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to improve tourism safety and service standards, focusing on perfecting the regulatory system and shaping Thailand’s image as a safe and reliable destination. Tourism institutions participating in the certification must be evaluated in four aspects, including comprehensive safety measures, a secure and transparent electronic payment system, multilingual services and professional tourist reception capabilities, and requirements such as safe, convenient transportation routes with clear signage.
It is expected that about 5,000 hotels, restaurants, scenic spots, shopping centers, and leisure and entertainment venues across Thailand will participate in the evaluation. Enterprises that pass the certification will receive promotional support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand through domestic and international channels. The validity of the certification is two years.
