(US, 29th) Former US President Biden gave a fiery speech on the 27th, calling his successor Trump a 'loser.' Citing numerous plans Trump had for remaking Washington, he portrayed him as incompetent, corrupt, and vain.
The UK's 'Guardian' reported on the 28th that Biden delivered his speech at a dinner event in Maryland organized by the Democratic Party. He said: 'Since Trump returned to the White House, he has made billions of dollars. This absolutely shocks me. He has no shame, and frankly, it's a disgrace to the nation. But Trump doesn't care at all. Profiting from the office of the presidency is one of the reasons he wants to be president.'
The 83-year-old Biden, during his 10-minute address, mentioned events such as Trump tearing down the White House East Wing to make space for a banquet hall, adding his own name to the exterior wall of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (before being ordered by a court to remove it), planning to build a triumphal arch, and spending $14.7 million to renovate the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool only to cause an algae bloom crisis.
Biden said: 'But what is shameful is not just his vanity projects in the capital.'
He also noted that the Trump administration is attempting to compensate those who were convicted for participating in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot and were later pardoned by the president.
While listing these incidents, Biden exclaimed: 'Wow! What a loser.'
Biden went on to point out that, especially regarding the Reflecting Pool's filtration system project, the federal government issued a $1.7 million no-bid contract to a Trump donor, who is also Trump's neighbor at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
Biden said Trump deliberately undermined NATO, chose Russian President Putin over US allies, and that the damage he did to America's global standing was more severe than any other US president.
