(Engkilili, 7th) Four foreigners without valid travel documents were arrested here yesterday afternoon while attempting to evade a police roadblock.
Lubok Antu District Police Chief DSP Pricha Azin stated that the four suspects (three men and one woman) were detained by the Lubok Antu District Special Operations Team during a comprehensive crime prevention operation (Op Pintas/Lejang) conducted in the Engkilili area.
He said that during the operation, a suspicious vehicle was found parked at a location, suspected of attempting to avoid the police roadblock.
"Further inspection revealed that two men and a woman did not possess valid travel documents," he stated in a press release today.
He added that the case is currently being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM), and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

The police also seized a vehicle, car keys, and a mobile phone, suspected to be connected to activities of "transporting migrants."
He added that the operation, led by Lubok Antu District Public Order Unit Chief Inspector Lion Bagih, mobilized a total of 20 officers. Its aim was to combat various serious crimes, drugs, gambling, and illegal activities, as well as to reinforce police presence in hotspot areas.
"Nineteen traffic violation summonses were also issued during the operation."
"The operation lasted about five hours, during which a total of 115 vehicles and 125 people were inspected," he said.
Pricha emphasized that the Lubok Antu Police will continue to strengthen law enforcement efforts to ensure the safety and stability of public order in the Lubok Antu and Engkilili areas.
