(Kuching, 7th) Police have arrested a 29-year-old local man, suspected to be involved in the theft of motorcycle wheel rims in the vicinity of Old Courthouse Road in Kuching.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah stated that the police 'Lejang' special operation team apprehended the suspect yesterday (6th) at 1:15 pm during an operation in the Simpang Tiga area.
He said this arrest action was related to a motorcycle wheel rim theft case reported on May 2.
During the operation, police also seized a motorcycle and several items believed to be connected to the case.
'Initial investigations found that the suspect was involved in the said theft case,' he said in a statement.
Urine tests also showed the suspect tested positive for amphetamines and methamphetamine.
Further investigations revealed the suspect has two prior criminal records.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code (theft of vehicle components). If convicted, the suspect may be sentenced to between 1 to 7 years' imprisonment, as well as a fine.
