One day after an Afghan national allegedly shot two National Guard members in Washington, U.S. President Trump stated on the 27th that he plans to suspend immigration from what he calls “third world countries.”
According to AFP, Trump wrote on social media: “I will permanently suspend all immigration from third world countries to allow America’s systems to fully recover.”
Trump also threatened to overturn the “millions” of entry permits approved during former President Biden’s administration and “deport anyone who is not a net asset to America.”
Trump stated he would end all federal welfare and subsidies for “non-citizens”; he also said he would “revoke citizenship eligibility for immigrants who undermine domestic peace and deport anyone who becomes a public burden, poses a security risk, or is incompatible with Western civilization.”
Fatally Wounded National Guard Member Dies
Trump confirmed on the 27th that the National Guard member injured in the shooting near the White House in Washington, D.C. on the 26th has died from her wounds, while the other injured member is still being treated.
Trump said that 20-year-old Sarah Bækström died due to severe injuries. Her colleague, 24-year-old Andrew Wolf, “is still fighting for his life.”
U.S. officials have described the attack as a “terrorist act,” and investigators are proceeding in that direction.
U.S. Attorney General Bundy said in an interview with Fox News that the government is preparing to charge the 29-year-old suspect, Lakanvale, with terrorism and to seek “at least” a life sentence.
Documents show Lakanvale applied for asylum in the U.S. in December last year and was approved on April 23 this year. On January 20 this year, Trump returned to the White House, having been in office for more than three months at that time.
