SARIKEI: At least three major events will take centre stage at the Sarawak-level National Day 2025 celebration in Sarikei from Aug 30 to 31.
Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who chairs the organising committee, said the celebration carries the theme “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni”, which emphasises shared wellbeing and appreciation of cultural diversity and human values.
“The main programmes include the National Day eve celebration, the Unity Walk, and the Sarawak-level National Day assembly,” she said according to TVS.
She said this after chairing the committee meeting at the Sarikei State Government Administrative Centre today (Aug 18).
Fatimah said the highlight of the celebration would be graced by the Head of State Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, alongside Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
She called on Sarawakians, particularly those in Sarikei and nearby areas, to join in the festivities.
“Let us all fly the Jalur Gemilang at our homes, premises and vehicles as a sign of love and loyalty to the nation,” she urged.
Fatimah also said the National Day celebration was not merely an annual event, but a symbol of the struggles of past generations that must continue to inspire patriotism among Malaysians.
