Namewee, who turned himself in at the Jinma District Police Headquarters in the early hours on Wednesday in connection with the "Taiwanese female internet celebrity murder case," will be remanded for 6 days until November 10.
Jinma District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shazali confirmed that this morning (5th), the police, citing Section 302 of the Penal Code (Murder), applied to the magistrate to extend Namewee's remand for investigation, and were approved for a 6-day extension until the 10th of this month.
The remand procedure was carried out in the police headquarters’ detention room.
Namewee's representative lawyer, Zheng Qingfeng, arrived at the police station at around 9 a.m., and exited at 11:45 a.m., but did not make any statement to reporters before returning to the police station.
Then, at about 12 noon, he exited the police station again and told the media present that the police had requested the magistrate for a 7-day remand extension for Namewee, but he requested only 6 days.
“It has been more than 14 days since the case occurred, so I only requested a 6-day remand extension.”
He then left in a hurry.
