Although the National Palace and the police have issued statements, the rally in support of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib still took place on Monday morning (6th). Government spokesperson Fahmi stated that it would be left to the enforcement authorities to take appropriate action.

Fahmi made these remarks on Monday (January 6) when accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar to attend the launch ceremony of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, in response to media inquiries.

When the media asked Fahmi about the Islamic Party still holding a support rally for Najib outside the Palace of Justice today, Fahmi pointed out that the Palace and the police had previously issued statements to explain the matter.

“After this, if necessary, we will leave it to the enforcement authorities to take appropriate action.”

The police confirmed on Sunday (January 5) that the rally in support of Najib was an illegal gathering, and authorities would take strict action against the attendees. However, today the rally still attracted nearly a thousand participants.

The National Palace previously stated that any application for pardon or reduction of sentence for any prisoner must be submitted by the prisoner personally and reviewed and decided by the Pardons Board chaired by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
