Trespassing Man Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison

(Sibu, 5th) A 33-year-old man was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment by the Sibu Magistrate's Court yesterday for trespassing into another person's home.
The accused, Empari Ayon, from Kanowit, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him by the interpreter.
Magistrate Romario Jonoi found the accused guilty in accordance with the law after his guilty plea.
According to the charge, the accused unlawfully entered a residence on Mantis Road at around 2:11 p.m. on April 22.
This act violates Section 448 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years' imprisonment or a fine of RM5000, or both, upon conviction.

According to the case facts, at about 2:11 p.m. that day, the victim returned to his room after a shower and found it in disarray. He also saw the accused fleeing the scene.
The victim checked and found that no valuables were stolen, but out of concern for his own safety, he still went to the police station to report the incident to prevent any untoward incidents in the future.
At about 10:10 a.m. on May 4, police arrested the accused on Lai Chee Road based on intelligence to assist in the investigation.
Investigation revealed that on the day of the incident, the accused entered the victim's rented room without permission with the intent to steal.
When the victim returned to his room after taking a shower, he happened to witness the accused fleeing the scene and successfully took a photo of him.
The case was prosecuted by ASP Sokolinkam Changgan. The accused was unrepresented by a lawyer, and his sentence will be served from the date of conviction.
