Man in Mukah Arrested for Drug Offenses

(Mukah, 31st) A 45-year-old man was arrested by police on Monday (March 30) in the local area, suspected of possessing drugs and engaging in drug-related activities.
Mukah District Police Chief DSP Wan Mohamad Ali Wan Malek stated that this arrest was carried out by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Team of the Mukah District Police Headquarters at 1:40 p.m. as part of a 'Special Filter Operation' (Ops Tapis Khas).
He said: "The suspect was detained in the Mukah area and subsequently brought to the district police headquarters for further investigation."
“Urine test results on the suspect showed positive reactions for amphetamine and methamphetamine.”
He pointed out that investigations also showed the suspect had no prior criminal or drug-related records.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (possession of drugs). If convicted, the suspect may be fined up to RM100,000, imprisoned for up to 5 years, or both.
In addition, the suspect is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act (drug use), which, upon conviction, carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment for up to 2 years.
The district police chief emphasized that the police take drug crimes seriously and will not compromise on such activities.
He also called on the public to proactively provide police with information about drug activities in the area.
