When Jacky heard news of a fire at her residence in Hong Fuk Court, she rushed home to save her 15-year-old gray poodle Jason, fearing she would never see him again.
According to AFP, when Jacky arrived, she found the building already engulfed in flames. The 43-year-old airline engineer joined the crowd waiting for rescue updates that night.
After midnight, as the fire spread, someone told her that the search for pets had ended.
Just when all seemed hopeless, her phone rang. A firefighter called to ask if she had a dog in Unit 2703 of Hong Kin House.
The next day, Jacky saw her rescued pet in the arms of a volunteer. “When I saw him from afar, he was still trembling. I called his name, and when he saw me, he stopped. Then he smiled.”
“I was so happy I almost went crazy, it felt like I was dreaming.”
Later, a firefighter told Jacky that they found a small note with Jason’s name stuck on the wall, which helped them coax Jason over and take him away.
Jacky shared the story of her dog’s rescue from the fire on social media, writing that the firefighters “also saved my soul.”
