PLA Daily: If Japan Insists on Going Its Own Way, It Will Face an Even More Thorough Defeat Than 80 Years Ago

Published at Dec 02, 2025 03:28 pm
The official newspaper of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, PLA Daily, published another article on the 2nd, stating that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi publicly made remarks involving Taiwan and refused to retract them, which seriously violates international law and the basic norms of international relations. If the Japanese side is bent on going its own way and insists on repeating the mistakes of history, what awaits it will be an even more thorough defeat than 80 years ago.

The article points out that Takaichi crudely interferes in China’s internal affairs and openly challenges the post-war international order, seriously violating international law and the basic norms of international relations, posing a serious threat to security in the Asia-Pacific region and peace and stability in the world. Her words and actions reveal a dangerous tendency toward military expansion.

The article says that the current Japanese Constitution clearly stipulates: “The Japanese people sincerely seek international peace based on justice and order, forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes. In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.” This constitution is thus known as the “Peace Constitution” and establishes the postwar principle of “exclusive self-defense” for Japan, symbolizing Japan’s open commitment to peaceful development.

Takaichi Sanae’s erroneous statements involving Taiwan seriously violate the provisions regarding the “prohibition on the use of force” and completely betray the solemn commitment of “renouncing war.”

The article says Takaichi Sanae’s erroneous statements involving Taiwan ignore the most sensitive historical background in China-Japan relations and wantonly trample on the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation, and United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.

The article concludes by saying that from the occupation of Taiwan and the Penghu Islands during the First Sino-Japanese War to the brutal invasions of China and many Southeast Asian countries during World War II, the historical crimes of Japanese militarism have yet to be thoroughly reckoned with. Now, Takaichi even dares to play with fire on the Taiwan issue; this is both a serious provocation to the indomitable will of 1.4 billion Chinese people to defend national unity, and a grave violation of the bottom line of peace for all humanity.
