(Julau, 13th) The Sarawak government places great importance on developing human capital through education, with a special focus on rural community education to ensure that future generations are equipped with knowledge and good character.
Batu Lintang representative Dato Rolland Duat pointed out that education is the key to changing one's destiny and building a better future.
"Only through education can we create a bright future. As an elected representative, I regard education as my primary agenda," he said at the SK Tapang Punggu, Julau student appreciation and graduation ceremony yesterday morning.
He called on parents to value their children's education from the preschool stage, nurturing a new generation with quality and discipline.
Rolland pointed out that the Sarawak government will continue to strengthen the education sector and promote development through several new initiatives, including implementing a free education policy starting in 2026, especially in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
"We will ensure that everyone, no matter where they live, has the opportunity to receive quality education. However, the responsibility of education does not rest solely on teachers; parents and the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) should also actively participate and work together for the school's success," he said.
He also emphasized that schools must maintain a safe and comfortable learning environment.
"Although SK Tapang Punggu is located in a remote area, I believe this school can nurture excellent and potential students," he added.
The ceremony included the awarding of graduation certificates to Year Six graduates, special student performances, and the recognition of outstanding students and teachers.
