(Pontianak, 13th) Bringing together more than 50 types of traditional delicacies from Malaysia and Indonesia, the “2025 Malaysia Mini Carnival” was grandly held this afternoon at the Rector's Park (Taman Rektorat) of Universiti Tanjungpura (abbreviated Untan), with a lively and bustling atmosphere at the scene.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Windy Prihastari, Head of the West Kalimantan Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, who symbolically launched the event by demonstrating “Teh Tarik” (Malaysian Pulled Tea) on site.

Windy stated that this event is a continuation of last year’s widely praised “Malaysia Food Festival,” aiming to further strengthen cultural and economic exchanges between the two countries.
“This event is not only a platform to promote tourism and the creative economy, but also integrates health exhibitions, educational fairs, and cultural seminars. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for the younger generation, especially students of Universiti Tanjungpura, to gain in-depth understanding of the cultures of both countries.” she said in her opening speech.
She also especially thanked the Consulate of Malaysia in Pontianak for organizing this carnival and expressed gratitude to the university for its continued support.
Meanwhile, Azizul Zekri Abd Rahim, Consul of Malaysia in Pontianak, said that last year’s carnival was held for only one day, but due to the enthusiastic response, it has been specially extended to two days this year.

“We sincerely invite the public to participate and enjoy a variety of traditional food and activities from Malaysia and Indonesia,” he said.
Azizul added that, in addition to the food exhibition, the carnival also features a health exhibition, cultural seminars, and panel discussions, offering diverse and rich content.
He stated that this event not only further consolidates social and cultural ties between the two countries, but also provides a platform for merchants and the tourism industry to promote and communicate.
