(Bandar Seri Begawan, 15th) Baiduri Bank has been awarded the title of “Best Retail Bank in Brunei” at the TAB Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards 2026.
This accolade recognizes Baiduri Bank’s continuous strengthening of its retail banking business through robust growth, digital innovation, and a customer-first strategy centered on financial wellbeing.
According to the award citation, Baiduri Bank demonstrated strong retail business growth and excelled in stable deposits, wealth management development, and deep digital engagement. These achievements are mainly attributed to the bank’s shift to a consultancy-led banking model and the launch of financial health centers, further establishing its leading role in promoting financial empowerment.
Zheng Ronghui stated that this recognition reflects the consistency of the bank’s long-term strategy and the discipline maintained in continuously strengthening its banking business.
“Over the past few years, we have focused on strengthening our infrastructure, from core platforms and digital capabilities to how we support evolving customer needs. It is very encouraging that these efforts have now been recognized at the regional level, and this fully affirms the hard work the team puts in every day,” he said.
He also thanked customers for their longstanding trust, stating that this honor will motivate the bank to continue enhancing the standards of retail banking services in Brunei.
One of the key initiatives contributing to this achievement is the continued enhancement of the Emmi chatbot. Leveraging generative AI technology, the system is able to process customer inquiries more quickly and allows customers to conveniently access basic banking services through digital channels, including WhatsApp.
In addition, the bank has expanded its digital payment ecosystem through Baiduri Tap2Pay, enabling merchants—especially SMEs and micro-businesses—to accept contactless payments using NFC-enabled smartphones, eliminating the need for additional hardware.
The TAB Global Excellence in Retail Finance Awards aim to compare the performance of financial institutions worldwide and recognize institutions that excel in retail banking, digital engagement, and strategy execution.
