The police investigation revealed that the three suspects in the Ye Xinyuan murder case did not use drugs. The police will investigate the case from two angles: whether the deceased died from a drug overdose or was murdered.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Husin said that the deceased's boyfriend is involved in the case.

When queried on the progress of the case on Friday, he said that the police are still investigating whether a third party is involved.

"The three suspects who were arrested tested negative for drugs in their urine tests and did not consume narcotics."

"The police are still waiting for the victim's toxicology report to determine whether the deceased died from a drug overdose or due to other factors."

Background of the News

The deceased was the eldest among three sisters. She went missing after leaving home on December 19th last year. Police launched a search after receiving a report at 2:15 a.m. the following day; her boyfriend also reported her missing on December 22nd, stating she had disappeared in the afternoon.

Her body was found 9 days later near the Sungai ChangKang flood control project (RTB), about 60 kilometers away. At that time, the body was already decomposed. The police then sent the deceased's body to Banting for an autopsy and DNA testing, confirming her identity five days later.

The police shifted the investigation from a missing persons case to one under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder) and extended the detention of three suspects (aged 16, 20, and 51), including the deceased's boyfriend, for six days starting Tuesday (December 31, 2024) to assist in the investigation.
