Liu Shiquan: A New Journey at Forty-Two Years – AIFA Service Centre Officially Opened

(Seria, 2nd) Dr. Liu Shiquan, Managing Director of AIFA, said: Today, we are filled with immense pride and joy as we welcome everyone to the official opening ceremony of AIFA Sdn Bhd’s Service Centre. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s development journey since its establishment in 1984, and this year we also celebrate our 42nd anniversary.
He said that AIFA originally started as a small wholesale enterprise, and in its early days, after-sales service was mainly outsourced. As the business grew and customer expectations continued to rise, they gradually realized how crucial it was to offer customers higher convenience, more consistency, and better quality service.
"We have always firmly believed that business competition cannot rely on price alone; just as important is ensuring customers receive reliable and timely after-sales service."
Therefore, in 1990 AIFA established its very own service center at Sungai Hanching, which operated alongside the then family-run store and office.
In 1998, following the chain reaction of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, many international brands faced enormous challenges and subsequently exited the market. During this period, we made a strategic decision to develop our own brands through an OEM partnership model, namely AIFA and PEVY. These partnerships began at the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, China, and gradually expanded to include OEM cooperation in Malaysia and Italy.

As the wholesale business continued to grow, demand for after-sales service naturally increased as well. As a result, in January 2000, the service center was relocated to the more centralized business district in Gadong, providing customers with improved facilities and more convenient transportation.
He said, as we continued to expand our international brand portfolio and enrich our own brand product ranges, another milestone was reached in 2008—the move to the purpose-built AIFA Centre, which is the building you can see just across the bridge on your right. This center integrated our headquarters, warehouse, and service center under one roof, further enhancing overall operational efficiency.
The service center officially opened today marks a new chapter in our development. Construction of this building began on 12 July 2022, and with close collaboration and careful planning from all parties, was successfully completed in 28 months.
This achievement is something I am deeply grateful for, especially the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei and support from His Government—particularly the long-term encouragement and assistance from the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) to SMEs, which has helped local enterprises like ours continue to grow, innovate, and remain resilient in the face of challenges.
Here, he also expressed his sincerest thanks to AIFA’s employees and their families. They have not only stood by AIFA during moments of triumph, but have also given steadfast support during difficult times. Their loyalty, dedication, and hard work are the solid foundation for all we have achieved.
The establishment of this new service center fully demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving service quality and customer experience. Equipped with modern facilities and supported by a professional team, we are able to provide customers with faster, more efficient, and more reliable service.
This service center is not just an infrastructure project, but a crucial investment for our employees, customers, and future.

He also expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the project’s success—including the management team, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and all employees who worked tirelessly to realize this vision.
To our esteemed clients and business partners: thank you for your long-standing trust and support. It is this trust that has shaped today’s AIFA.

The opening ceremony was jointly officiated by Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, AIFA Chairman Pengiran Mohd Yussof, AIFA Managing Director Dr. Liu Shiquan, General Manager Liu Yiling, and Deputy Manager Liu Yiming.
This morning, over 350 distinguished guests attended the AIFA Service Centre opening ceremony, including representatives from the embassies of China, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
