(Miri, 15th) Miri Police District Chief ACP Alexson Naga stated that Miri is currently still under the northeast monsoon, so the weather is highly unstable and frequent rainfalls occur. Hence, police officers should always be prepared to deal with disaster work, and ensure that the police boats and external engines can be used at any time.
He mentioned that if floods occur within police station jurisdictions, the local director must immediately report to the relevant units or himself, and at the same time, intensify patrols to reduce the occurrence of criminal cases and drug abuse in the district.
Speaking at the Miri Police District's monthly assembly in January, Alexson Naga pointed out that every police team meeting aims to renew the vows of all levels of officers, members, and clerical staff, allowing officers to take updated steps to overcome all weaknesses while assessing the successes achieved.
“Discipline is the core of police service. I hope all police officers abide by the instructions of the leadership, and consider whether their actions might be harmful to the team before taking any action, because inappropriate behaviors can tarnish the reputation of the entire Royal Malaysia Police force, and I will not tolerate or compromise with any senior officer or officer involved in criminal activities.”
He also mentioned that police officers should have a healthy mental and physical state, so all unit leaders must pay attention to their subordinates. In cases where it's needed, officers should fully use counseling services for stress relief, thereby providing better services to the public.
“If police officers are frequently seen on social media facing various integrity issues, such as crime or corruption, it is concerning. Therefore, it is necessary for the police force to conduct close monitoring to effectively reduce the chances of errors and address the negative impression of the police force in society.”
