(Pantu, 26th) The vision for Pantu district residents to enjoy improved basic infrastructure and transportation networks is becoming clearer, as 13 proposed development projects totaling approximately RM500 million are set to be implemented.
These proposals are expected to bring significant changes to the lives of rural residents, especially by improving the road networks, drainage systems, public facilities, and transportation access to farms, plantations, and residential areas.
Deputy Minister of Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Balai Ringin State Assemblyman Dato Snowdan Lawan said that these projects involve allocations from the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA), Sri Aman Municipal Council (MDSA), and several other government agencies.
He said one of the largest projects is the 42-kilometer Muding-Tuba-Mentu road project, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the Public Works Department, costing RM265.5 million.
He stated this while officiating the "Gather & Interact with Dato Snowdan Lawan" event yesterday at Rumah Augustine Entika, Rapak Tepus in Pantu.
Snowdan added that other works include the RM77.5 million Menangkin/Menuang road project, the RM60.3 million Batang Strap-Sapak-Isu-Munggu Ubah road project, the RM38.2 million Sebemban/Gayau road project, as well as the RM35.8 million Munggu Ubah road project, the latter expected to be completed in May 2027.
He said the development projects are not only focused on road construction but also cover infrastructure closely related to residents' daily lives.
"These include the RM2.3 million construction of the Pantu Jetty, RM6 million for the Pantu drainage system, RM782,000 for the Abok agricultural road, and RM1.42 million for the Kampung Limau agricultural road project."
"Additionally, there are also proposals to build the road to Wong Jaban @ Jaong Pantu at a cost of RM4.625 million; the road to Wong Beranggong @ Abok at RM1.3 million; Bukit Kukuk and Sungai Merah agricultural roads at RM894,000; and the preliminary site development for the new Pantu District Office building costing RM5 million."
He stated his hope that after the implementation of these projects, residents' mobility will be improved, transportation access to agricultural and farmland areas will be better, and the local economy will be further stimulated.
Therefore, he hopes that all the proposed and currently implemented projects will have a major impact on the development of Pantu district, especially regarding basic infrastructure, road networks, and the welfare of rural residents.
At the same event, he also announced an allocation of RM15,000 for the Rapak Tepus Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and another RM5,000 for its women's wing.
