Stylist Suffers 5 Years of Online Abuse After Drunk Haircut Incident — Song Ji-hyo Issues Late-Night Public Apology: ‘Thank You for Holding On’

Korean popular actress Song Ji-hyo suddenly cut her signature long hair in November 2021, switching to a bold and ultra-short hairstyle. At the time, the haircut was extremely uneven, leading some netizens to harshly comment that it looked like it had been 'bitten by a rat.' This triggered strong dissatisfaction among fans, who even united to protest and demanded the dismissal of her styling team. Five years later, on the 3rd, Song Ji-hyo publicly apologized to her hairstylist Hong Da, who had been innocently blamed, on a YouTube show, expressing her remorse and saying, “I need to apologize.”

Hairstylist Hong Da recalled the incident on the show and was still visibly shaken. She revealed that she thought it was a joke when she received a message from Song Ji-hyo in the middle of the night, until the actress showed up with hair already badly cut. The two struggled to save the hairstyle in a bathroom, but the final result still set off a wave of online controversy after being posted online. Some extreme fans even called the salon to verbally abuse her. Hong Da jokingly remarked that if it had been someone with a more fragile heart, they might not have survived the ordeal, highlighting just how intense the public pressure was at the time.

In fact, Song Ji-hyo later admitted that she had been drinking late at night and impulsively cut her own hair, not expecting her actions to so severely implicate her innocent backstage team. Now, five years later, she once again expressed her deep apology and gratitude to the stylist, sighing, “Thank you for hanging in there.” Many netizens also left comments saying they could sense Ji-hyo’s heartfelt remorse and praised the strong friendship between the two.
