(Miri, 3rd) The Sarawak State Government today launched an operation to airlift food supplies to flood victims in the interior of Miri. The mission is carried out by an Airbus EC135 helicopter provided by Hornbill Skyways, with the take-off point at the Hornbill Skyways helipad in Miri.

The Chairman of the Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (JPBB), Galong Luang, attended the first delivery operation and stated in a statement that due to severe flooding and landslides in the interior of Miri, particularly in the Beluru District (Daerah Beluru), road transport is blocked, making it imperative to transport supplies by helicopter.

He pointed out that today they will deliver food to Long Liaw in the Ulu Tinjar area, a settlement of the Penan people. “Each delivery will consist of 300 kilograms of food supplies, totaling 26 food packages.”
