Sarawak Premier: Total Revenue of Sarawak Reached 14.2 Billion MYR Last Year, One of Malaysia's Top 5 Economic Performers

(Sibu, Feb 3) Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari pointed out that Sarawak's total revenue last year reached 14.2 billion MYR, making it one of the top 5 economic performers in Malaysia last year.

He stated that Sarawak's export performance was outstanding last year, ranking 4th in the nation for exports to international trade partners.

“With the right policy initiatives, Sarawak's economic performance has achieved continuous strong growth.”

Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari mentioned while delivering a speech at the Sibu Division United Chinese Associations' Chinese New Year Gathering yesterday that Sarawak can expect higher revenue this year, thereby strengthening Sarawak's economic performance.

“Trade with China will continue to expand. Sarawak has now also started exporting methanol to China.”

He promised that Sarawak is committed to promoting a green and diversified economy, creating more employment opportunities through this diversification.

He revealed that Sarawak is negotiating with Fudan University in China to set up a medical school in Sarawak, teaching both Western and Eastern medicine, with China being the best in Eastern medicine.

He said that China is a leader in Eastern medicine, and Sarawak has rich biodiversity resources, which can serve as resources to promote Eastern medicine.

It is reported that the high-level representatives from Fudan University previously visited Miri for an inspection to set up a branch campus.
