(B.S.B., 8th) The Industry and Business Ecosystem Unit (IBE) of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, through the Standards and Calibration Division (SDT) and the Department of Consumer Affairs, carried out a joint monthly inspection operation at several business premises in the Tutong district.
During the operation, officials from the Standards and Calibration Division verified, ensured accuracy, and registered ten weighing machines used for transactions.
Meanwhile, the Department of Consumer Affairs issued two warning notices specifically addressing violations of the Price Control Act, Chapter 142. These violations included the sale price of edible oil products exceeding the specified maximum limit, and various items sold without price tags at commercial premises.
Traders and users of weighing instruments must comply with the Weights and Measures (Verification) Regulations 1994, Section 3(2); it is illegal for anyone to use or possess any weight, measure, or weighing instrument for trade that has not been duly stamped as required by these regulations.
Additionally, retailers are reminded to clearly and accurately display prices and use the PenggunaBijak mobile application to obtain the latest list of maximum controlled product prices, ensuring that the selling price of such products does not exceed the specified limit.
