(Brunei, 8th) Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Nazmi, officiated the opening ceremony of the art exhibition yesterday.
The event is held at the Royal Wharf Energy Centre, showcasing a total of 89 paintings, 94 graphic artworks, and 64 illustrations by 37 current and former Brunei Language and Literature Bureau artists.
Acting Deputy Director of the Brunei Language and Literature Bureau, Haireeni, stated that the exhibition’s theme, 'Touch of Color' (Sentuhan Warna), symbolizes the diversity, creativity, and innovation expressed in local art pieces.
'This exhibition not only provides artists with an opportunity to showcase their work but also highlights the development of painting and graphic art from traditional to digital forms, aligning with the current trend of technological transformation.'
She remarked that the exhibition not only offers a space to showcase talent and works but also aids in educating the community to better understand and appreciate visual arts, while recognizing the important role artists play in passing down stories and values to future generations.
'We hope the art pieces on display can greatly inspire the community, especially art students who will inherit our nation’s painting and graphic art legacy.'
The minister presented certificates of appreciation to the participating artists, and the exhibition will run until May 27th.
