KUCHING, 15 July: The digitalisation of public health clinics in Sarawak will see more than half of its 271 facilities transitioning to paperless operations by the end of this year.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said this is made possible through a RM10 million allocation from the Sarawak government last year.

“With the RM10 million grant from the Sarawak government in 2024, 149 out of 271 clinics — covering 70 per cent of patient load statewide — are expected to go paperless by the end of this year.

“Patients will no longer need to carry the traditional written folder,” he said in a Facebook post after a working visit to the Batu Kawa Health Clinic here recently.

Dr Sim, who is also the Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister, said the Batu Kawa Health Clinic is also be undergoing several infrastructure upgrades.

“A sum of RM900,000 has been allocated to expand the blood test laboratory, along with improvements to the clinic’s air conditioning, electrical systems and septic tank.

“The project is currently at 12 per cent progress and is on schedule to be completed by December next year,” he said.

He also called for public understanding during the ongoing construction and digital transition phase at the Batu Kawa Health Clinic.
