(Kuching, 19th) Datuk Hasidah from the Sarawak Premier's Department (Law, MA63, State and Federal Relations) admitted her closeness with China, as currently, besides her husband being in China, her son is a cloud technology engineer with Huawei Malaysia.

During her speech at the opening of the Malaysia (Sarawak)-China Cooperation Forum and Sister City Roundtable Meeting today, she revealed that the Sarawak Premier, Abang Johari, hopes Sarawak can learn from China's aerospace technology, so he sent a delegation to China to study the rocket launch process, and her husband is one of the members.

At the meeting, she also shared with attendees Sarawak’s 2025 financial plan, the post-2030 COVID-19 development strategy, and the issue of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement.

She pointed out that the Sarawak government will continue to collaborate with various countries to ensure development aligns with the post-2030 COVID-19 development strategy.

She explained that this is because Sarawak has a close collaboration with China and other Asian countries to attract investors to Sarawak.

“We are advancing globally to attract investors to Sarawak, as this is a step forward, and this is what Sarawak is doing. Therefore, we hope to continue achieving success in the future and strive to attract more investors to Sarawak, collaborating with countries like China, Japan, and South Korea.”

When addressing the nation-building agreement, Hasidah stated that the 1974 Petroleum Development Act (PDA 74) and the 1958 Oil Mining Ordinance (OMO 58) need to coexist to ensure smooth operation of Malaysia’s oil and gas industry.

She mentioned that although Sarawak has the right under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to enforce its laws and regulations, the above two acts need to be implemented together.

“Our suggestion is that PDA 74 and OMO 58 are two laws that must coexist, and they need to be integrated and implemented together.”

She added that Sarawak's rights to all minerals and natural resources found within its maritime boundaries on and beneath the seabed are absolute, but anyone can come to explore and develop its resources as long as they get permission, apply for licenses, etc., from Sarawak.
