E-hailing Delivery Association Urges Government to Strengthen Regulations to Prevent Misuse of Fuel Subsidies

(Kuala Lumpur, 26th) The Malaysian E-hailing Delivery Services Association (PENGHANTAR) has urged the government to consider regulating the registration of new e-hailing and delivery drivers to prevent individuals with ulterior motives from abusing fuel subsidies through such registrations.
The association, in a statement, expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar for implementing the "BUDI MADANI RON95" initiative (BUDI 95), stating that it demonstrates the government’s concern for the e-hailing and delivery services sector.
They stated that this move not only alleviates the burden on drivers but also proves that the government is listening to voices from the sector.
However, the association suggested that the government must strengthen controls on new registrations for e-hailing and delivery services to prevent unscrupulous individuals from abusing fuel subsidies via these registrations.
"This will also help control the oversupply of e-hailing drivers and prevent it from affecting the livelihoods of industry players."
The association stated that they will continue to act as the official channel representing the industry, working closely with all parties and making every effort to protect the welfare and rights of gig economy workers.
