The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing pointed out that today's launch of the 'Visit Malaysia Year 2026' (VM2026) is based on two main pillars: high yield and sustainable tourism.

He said this reflects Malaysia's commitment to providing meaningful experiences for tourists while preserving the nation's unique treasures.

'To achieve this goal, we have identified three main strategies to increase the number of tourists, turning short visits into long stays.

'By enriching cultural and eco-tourism experiences, empowering local communities and improving infrastructure to extend tourists' stay; and by promoting niche tourism experiences to encourage higher spending.'

He said this while delivering his speech at the launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, officiated by the Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Anwar.

Tiong mentioned that Visit Malaysia Year 2026 is not just a promotional campaign, but a long-term achievement that can drive economic growth, create job opportunities, and revitalize communities.

Therefore, he urged all Malaysians, including tour guides, businesses, artists, and ordinary citizens, to share the country's stories, culture, and hospitality with the world.

'Malaysia is a land full of stories, with ancient tropical rainforests, vibrant cities, a diverse and rich culture, and unforgettable cuisine.

'Our theme ‘Mystical Experience’ invites the world to explore Malaysia's extraordinary beauty and diversity, offering experiences beyond expectations.'

He said that the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 logo is not just a brand, but a representation of the beauty expressed in every Malaysian’s smile, warm welcome, and storytelling.

'Each of us is a tourism ambassador, showcasing the unique charm of Malaysia to the world like a living postcard.'

He mentioned that the Ministry of Tourism plans to engage more partners, focusing on strategic collaborations with the Tourism Board to ensure the success of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

He said the cooperation of all stakeholders will drive the vibrant growth of Malaysia's tourism industry, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment.

The official logo, mascot, and theme song for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 were unveiled at the event, symbolizing Malaysia's vision to elevate its global tourism stature and attract 35.6 million tourists, generating RM147.1 billion in revenue.
