(Seria, 4th) In order to improve students' singing skills and stage performance abilities, as well as to inspire students’ interest in learning the Chinese language, the Chinese Language Department of Chung Hwa Middle School, Seria, organized a “One-Day Singing Camp” on June 21.
The training was held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the multifunctional audio-visual hall of the Dasheng Humanities Education Building, attracting a total of 21 student participants.
This one-day camp specially invited two experienced singing coaches from Miri, Liu Yuanwei and Xu Peihong, to provide professional guidance for the students.
The course content covered basic vocalization, breath control, pitch training, song interpretation, and stage performance. Students improved their singing technique through both theoretical explanation and hands-on practice, and also learned how to accurately express the emotions and meaning of a song in Chinese.
During the training, the two instructors used lively and interactive teaching methods to help students master correct vocalization, and provided individual guidance and advice based on each student’s singing style.
The participants practiced diligently, refining their singing techniques through constant adjustment and experimentation. This not only increased their stage confidence, but also deepened their understanding and use of Chinese songs.
The school stated that, by organizing the singing training activity, they hope to motivate students’ interest in music and Chinese language learning, cultivate campus singing talent, and encourage students to bravely express themselves and unleash their potential—so that students can learn Chinese through singing and improve their language expression abilities.
The school also expressed gratitude to the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China for its support and sponsorship of this one-day singing camp, which enabled the activity to be held smoothly.
This singing camp ended successfully in a fulfilling and joyful learning atmosphere. Participating students expressed that they benefited greatly—not only did they learn practical singing skills, but also gained a better understanding of how to use their voices to express song emotions, while also improving their abilities and confidence in performing Chinese songs.
They look forward to applying what they have learned in future performances both inside and outside the school, showcasing a more mature and confident stage presence.
