(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) Standard Chartered Bank Brunei recently collaborated with Laksamana College of Business (LCB) to launch a 'Mentor Program' initiative. This skills-oriented volunteer program aims to help students gain practical experience and prepare them for a smooth transition into the workplace.

As part of the LCB 2026 Workplace Readiness Program (WRP), the half-day course brought together 45 students and senior leaders from Standard Chartered Bank for interactive mentorship activities, giving students an in-depth understanding of workplace expectations, industry trends, and career development opportunities.

The event began with a seminar on scam and fraud prevention, teaching students how to identify and protect themselves from increasingly sophisticated financial scams.

Afterwards, students participated in a series of structured rapid mentoring sessions in groups, engaging directly with experienced banking professionals.

Through mentorship, students gained invaluable opportunities to deeply understand career development paths, current workplace dynamics, and the skills needed to succeed in today's fast-changing professional environment.

The rapid mentorship format also allowed participants to interact with multiple mentors, benefit from diverse perspectives, and ask questions in a more personalized and interactive setting.

The mentoring team included Head of Financial Crime Compliance Christina Kok, Deputy Director of Compliance Sophia Lim, Deputy Director of Corporate and Investment Banking Lim Chee Boon, and Head of Lending Business and Anti-Fraud Aisah Razali.

This initiative demonstrates Standard Chartered's ongoing commitment to supporting education and youth development through community engagement and knowledge sharing.

By connecting students with experienced industry experts, the bank actively helps future talents build confidence, acquire skills, and broaden their horizons, laying a strong foundation for their career development.

Marilyn Graeme, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered, said the bank firmly believes that investing in youth is investing in the future.

She noted that through initiatives such as the 'Mentor Program', they hope to share practical experience, inspire students, and help them bridge the gap between education and the workplace. The bank is also pleased to partner with Laksamana College of Business to jointly support the cultivation of Brunei's future talents.

The program concluded successfully with a networking lunch, allowing students and mentors to continue their interactions and establish more meaningful connections beyond the course.

Standard Chartered Bank Brunei stated that it will continue to work with educational institutions in the future to expand more opportunities and support the development of the next generation of professional talents.
