(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brunei recently held its second Korean cuisine cooking class for women, allowing participants to personally experience the process of making Korean dishes and further appreciate the charm of Korean food culture.
Under the guidance of the embassy chef, students learned to make a refreshing and appetizing traditional fermented food — Mul Kimchi (water kimchi), as well as a traditional Korean salad.
During the course, participants not only learned about ingredient pairing and cooking methods, but also delved deeper into the cultural significance behind the dishes.
While interacting with the students, Sun Nam-kook remarked that Korean cuisine embodies the spirit of sharing, and brings people together through food, further strengthening community awareness.
He said he hopes this cooking class can deepen students' understanding of Korean cuisine and culture, while further strengthening the friendship between Korea and Brunei.
It is reported that the previous cooking class was held on June 26, featuring two popular Korean dishes: Mul Kimchi and Pine Nut Sauce Shrimp.
Of these, Mul Kimchi is a type of kimchi made by pickling fresh vegetables in lightly seasoned saltwater; Pine Nut Sauce Shrimp features shrimp cooked with a rich pine nut sauce, and is very popular.
The embassy stated that it will continue to organize various cultural events in the future to promote mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges, and make Korean cuisine an important bridge connecting the people of Korea and Brunei.
