(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo was pleased to be invited to attend the opening ceremony of the 'Famous Teachers Lecture Tour'.
“On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Brunei, I would like to express my sincere congratulations on the official launch of the 'Famous Teachers Lecture Tour' and extend a warm welcome to all the teachers who have come a long way from Henan!”
The Ambassador stated that the 'Famous Teachers Lecture Tour' is a flagship program by the Overseas Chinese Friendship Association for cultivating overseas Chinese language teachers, and this year marks its first visit to Brunei. This lecture tour will be held at both Chung Hwa Middle School in Brunei and Chung Hwa Middle School in Kuala Belait. It not only focuses on instructional design and practice, but also aims at the classroom application of new technologies like artificial intelligence. He believes this will certainly help deepen mutual learning and exchange among overseas Chinese teachers, provide valuable guidance for the development of Chinese education in Brunei, and better promote China-Brunei cultural exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations.
“Chinese education carries the important mission of transmitting Chinese cultural heritage and building a bridge of communication between China and Brunei, laying a solid public foundation for the cause of China-Brunei friendship.”
For a long time, Chinese friends in Brunei have upheld the fine tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education, actively passing on the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and persevered in running schools despite various difficulties, making important contributions to the inheritance and development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture. Here, I would also like to pay high tribute to people from all sectors in Brunei for their hard work in promoting Chinese culture and the development of Chinese education.
The Ambassador stated that not long ago, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing, the most important outcome of which was the deliberation and adoption of the 'Recommendations of the CPC Central Committee on Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development,' which lays out the top-level design and strategic blueprint for China’s development over the next five years. This year, Brunei has also formulated its 12th National Development Plan (RKN12). China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Brunei’s RKN12 strategy are highly aligned and share many similar concepts. The Chinese side is willing to actively strengthen the alignment of development plans with Brunei, promote continuous achievements in various fields of cooperation, and help elevate the building of the China-Brunei community with a shared future to a new level.
Last week, Chung Hwa Middle School in Brunei elected a new Board of Directors led by Mr. Yang De Zhen as chairman. On this occasion, I would like to warmly congratulate Mr. Yang De Zhen on his successful re-election as well as all the board members on their successful elections.
For a hundred years, Chung Hwa Middle School has weathered many storms, always at the forefront of Brunei Chinese schools in adhering to cultural heritage and developing Chinese education, and has made important contributions to the development of China-Brunei relations. I hope the new board will not forget its original aspiration, continue to pass on the torch of Chinese education, remain committed to advancing school affairs, and continue to make new and greater contributions to the development of China-Brunei relations.
Finally, I wish this lecture tour a complete success, and wish all friends good health and all the best in everything!
