Brunei Weather Remains Active — Precautions Needed for Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms

Published at Nov 15, 2025 04:04 pm
(Bandar Seri Begawan, 15th) According to a statement released by the Brunei Meteorological Department today, Brunei's weather is expected to remain active until November 18th. Intermittent heavy rainfall and thunderstorms may occur in some areas, especially during the afternoon and evening, with wind speeds reaching up to 45 km/h, particularly during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Currently, Brunei is still in the monsoon transition period, which usually lasts until the end of November 2025. Sea conditions are of moderate fluctuation, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

The authorities advise the public to make early preparations to cope with the anticipated severe weather conditions. The risk of flash floods is especially higher in low-lying and flood-prone areas, as well as regions near rivers, during periods of sustained heavy rain and rising tides. Meanwhile, heavy rain and strong winds may also lead to disasters such as landslides, fallen trees, and roofs being blown off.

Waves are of moderate strength and may pose a danger to small vessels, recreational activities, and water sports.

The Brunei Meteorological Department reminds the public, drivers, and seafarers to always pay attention to the latest weather forecasts, advice, and warnings, and to make corresponding safety plans.

The Brunei Meteorological Department will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and issue further weather advice and warnings as necessary.

The latest weather information, advice, and warnings can be accessed more quickly through the Brunei WX mobile application, or by calling the weather hotline 114, visiting the official website www.met.gov.bn, the Facebook page @bruneiweather, Instagram @brunei.weather, and Brunei Weather’s Telegram and WhatsApp channels.
