(Thailand, 21st) The international departure tax for foreign travelers at six airports in Thailand has been officially increased to 1,120 baht, which is approximately RM140, starting today (20th).
Previously, the fee was 730 baht, or about RM92.25.
According to Headline News, the affected airports include Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, Chiang Mai Airport, Phuket Airport, Chiang Rai Airport, and Hat Yai Airport.
As for service fees for domestic departing passengers, the charge remains unchanged at 130 baht (about RM16.34) per person.
The Airports of Thailand (AOT), which manages these six airports, stated that the collected funds will be used to upgrade and modernize service facilities at the airports, with a focus on the construction project of the Southern Terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
