Fire Breaks Out in Flat Unit, Thick Smoke; 2 People Trapped and Die, Believed to Be Mother and Son

A deadly fire broke out in the early morning, claiming the lives of a man and woman, believed to be mother and son, who were trapped in the bathroom of their home and unfortunately found dead!

The fire occurred at a flat unit in Datuk Senu, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. The Fire and Rescue Department received the alert at 7:18 am on Friday (December 26), and dispatched teams from Sentul and South Gombak to extinguish the blaze.

According to a spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department, the fire was put out at 7:51 am. Afterwards, a 58-year-old Malay man and an 82-year-old Malay woman were found in the bathroom. Medical personnel confirmed that both had passed away.

The spokesperson added that the fire was fully extinguished at 8:27 am, with about 40% of the premises damaged by the fire.

Currently, the cause of the fire is still under further investigation by the department’s fire investigation unit.
