(Bandar Seri Begawan, 31st)—Recently, Kindergarten 3 students from Bandar Seri Begawan's Hong Hua School participated in a mini shopping experience activity held at Tanjung Bunut Hua Ho Supermarket, providing them with a valuable opportunity to develop essential life skills in a real-world environment.
This hands-on activity aimed to introduce primary school students to basic financial knowledge and social skills. The children carried shopping lists and play money, wandered through the aisles of Hua Ho Supermarket, identified products, read price tags, and made choices within a set budget—a fun and interactive way to practice their emerging math and reading skills.
In addition to reinforcing academic skills, the mini shopping experience also fostered important social development. Students practiced polite communication with cashiers, learned to take turns while shopping, and collaborated with their peers—all of which helped them build confidence, independence, and a sense of responsibility.
“This experience allowed our K3 students to connect what they’ve learned in the classroom to real life,” said Teacher Farah. “It’s an important step as they prepare to enter Year One, where they will continue to develop financial awareness and stronger interpersonal skills.”
The school thanked Tanjung Bunut Hua Ho Supermarket for supporting this project and for creating a warm and friendly environment for the little shoppers.
Parents also praised the program for offering their children opportunities for practical learning beyond the classroom. Hong Hua School plans to continue organizing such experiential activities to support students’ holistic development.
