(Bandar Seri Begawan, 31st) The Royal Brunei Police Force's Bangar Police Station, acting on credible reports, conducted two raids in the Bangar and Bekarut areas of Temburong District.
During the first operation, which took place around 2:40 am, a team from the Bangar Police Station spotted a suspicious vehicle in the Bangar area. Police successfully detained the vehicle and two local men, aged 29 and 28. Further inspection revealed undeclared goods in the vehicle, including 12 boxes (144 packs) of chicken legs and 1 pack of cigarettes.
In a second operation at around 3:20 am that same night, the same team received a public tip-off about suspicious activities at a house in Bekarut. Police conducted a thorough search of the house's basement and surrounding areas, discovering several boxes suspected of containing contraband. The house was unoccupied. Inspectors found multiple illicit items in the boxes, including 4 boxes of chicken wings, 16 boxes (192 packs) of chicken legs, 9 boxes (54 packs) of duck meat, and 2 boxes of liver.
The suspects and all items seized in both operations have been handed over to the Customs Department for investigation and further action. Police remind the public that it is a serious offense under national law to participate in smuggling prohibited goods such as frozen food and cigarettes. Such acts not only violate the law but also pose threats to public health and impact national security and the economy. Cooperation from all parties is vital in safeguarding national security.
