On the 14th, a shooting occurred at Sydney's Bondi Beach. At the scene, a man dressed in white subdued the gunman from behind, successfully disarming him. The man's identity was revealed on the 15th—he is 43-year-old Ahmed.

Ahmed was also shot during the disarming process.

At the time of the incident, the gunman, Akram, was attacking people with a gun under a palm tree. Using parked cars for cover, Ahmed quickly rushed at Akram from behind, putting one arm around his neck and the other pressing down on the firearm, preventing Akram from firing. Ahmed then successfully took the gun and pointed it at Akram, who subsequently fled.

During this period, Akram's son, Narweed, continued shooting from a nearby bridge. Akram joined him on the bridge, picked up another gun, and continued attacking people.

On the 15th, a relative of Ahmed said that Ahmed was shot once in the hand and once in the arm and is still receiving treatment in the hospital, but is in good condition.

The relative said Ahmed is one hundred percent a hero.

Australian Prime Minister Albanese praised Australians who helped each other regardless of the danger during the incident, calling them heroes whose courage saved lives. U.S. President Trump also expressed great respect for Ahmed, describing him as a very, very brave person who directly confronted one of the shooters and saved many lives.
