The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported on the 15th that investigators from Australia’s Joint Counter-Terrorism Team said the two suspects in the Bondi Beach shooting in Sydney had pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization “Islamic State.”

The report, citing a senior official from the Joint Counter-Terrorism Team who wished to remain anonymous, stated that police found an “Islamic State” flag inside the vehicle of the two Bondi Beach gunmen.

The official said that the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation had already been investigating Akram, one of the two Bondi Beach shooters, six years ago. He had close ties to “Islamic State” terrorists in Sydney.

The 50-year-old Akram was shot dead by police, and his 24-year-old son, Narweed, was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
